| This has been a great pen with a lot of space and very safe. I have owned mine for over a year and it is the only pen that can contain my 3 ferrets. I bought one from a different brand and it only took my ferret Jello 5 minutes to figure out how to escape. This pen will hook up easily and opens easily for cleaning. With all 11 panels hooked up it is large enough for me to sit in and play with my ferrets in, which has been great. It is in my opinion the best set up for ferrets especially for apartment dwellers like myself. I think I had to buy a separate canvas mat to put underneath it which is a must to keep ferrets from digging at carpet/floor. I love this pen and I highly recommend it to all ferret owners that want to keep their ferrets but need a contained environment for them to keep them safe...and to keep their deposits on their apartments :O) This pen is the smartest designed pen I have found on the market. Do not waste your money on any other brand please! |

I purchased the Marshall Playpen for my fuzzy band of ferrets. I needed something that would limit their exploring area when it was not a convenient to let them run the house and yet would allow them enough room to play and get exercise. Something securely made for ferrets by a company recognized for their quality ferret supplies and also a playpen that was easily expandable should I need more room for my girls. This playpen fit that bill at an affordable price.
When I first opened this item, I was surprised at how attractive the white panels were and how easy it was to set up the pen. Within 1-2 minutes I ready to add toys and my ferrets. This pen folds and unfolds with ease. The end panels connect together by sliding the loop of one panel onto the hooks on another panel. Easy to add more panels by purchasing the expansion panel kit or even a 2nd playpen for LOTS more play room (esp. useful when using in large rooms or for outside play.)
Taking down the pen was pain-free and folded up with ease, the pen is reasonably light for picking up and storing when not in use. Better yet , I recommend the Marshall playpen tote for storing the playpen and to make it easier to carry this playpen from place to place (again, both playpen and tote are VERY useful if you travel with your ferrets or even walk across the house/up stairs, etc. Much easier to carry the load with the tote)
So far, no escapes as the horizontal bars are spaced far enough apart so that most ferrets can NOT escape although I imagine there are probably exceptions to the rule, lol. (As seen in the product description picture, there 3 extra horizontal bars which give stability to the pen, one bar at the very bottom, one at the very top and one in the middle) If you do have an escape artist, perhaps using the optional Marshall cover/mat for this playpen would help eliminate escapes. I haven't needed my cover yet but I have it just in case plus it makes a good cover outside when your pet is in the sun or predators are in the sky.
PROS:

* Reasonably lightweight
* folds easily for storage
* Fast set up and take down
* Quality design, so far ferret escape proof with my fuzzy girls
* Great price here at Amazon, for the quality and features.
CONS:
* None so far after a week of play.

I needed someway to keep my 2 ferrets in 1 room. Gates made for kids & dogs couldn't be used because they are not high enough or the spaces between the bars are too wide. I tried this & it's perfect. Used as a gate or a playpen, they can't get out no matter how hard they try & they do!
